Our 2010 Halloween Card

The day we have been waiting for finally arrived -- it's Halloween!!! Claire woke up early this morning and hopped into bed with us. After a little while, she left to go play. When she returned, she noticed a package wrapped in princess paper on a chair in our room and said, "Mommy, look what I found!! Is it for me?" I told her that it was her Halloween present. She was thrilled when she opened it up to find Pinkalicious and Olivia figurines. After I removed the packaging, she headed off to her room to introduce Pinkalicious and Olivia to her other figurines.

In the early afternoon we headed over to the other side of town to spend the day with my parents and my brother and his family, a Halloween tradition. My brother's neighborhood is much more conducive to trick or treating (houses relatively close together, flat land, really nice neighbors).
After hanging out for a little while and enjoying some appetizers, the kids suited up in their costumes and we headed out for an hour of trick or treating. We ran into a few of my brother and sister in law's neighbors and some friends. It was lots of fun. The big kids were very independent, going up to the houses by themselves, ringing the doorbells and saying trick or treat. They needed the occasional reminder to say thank you, but we can chalk that up to their enthusiasm to get to the next house. We made it around the block, then decided to head back in because it was a little chilly. We planned to go out later in the dark, but it was really too cold by then, so we just stayed in and enjoyed pizza and candy. My husband also had a McRib sandwich. I will post more about his obsession with the McRib at a later date (They'll only be around for the next six weeks or so, so if you're a fan, take advantage of their limited run!).
Thankfully, as Claire put it, today was the "last day of Halloween." We have been doing so many Halloween activities lately, that it seems like Halloween was more than a one day holiday this year. We'll be putting all of our Halloween decorations away in order to get ready for the next holiday...Thanksgiving!
