Last year, for New Year's Eve, we went to a nice dinner, then went swimming at a hotel. It was such a fun way to ring in the new year that we decided to do it again. This year, however, we were able to persuade my parents and my brother and his family to celebrate with us. So, we met for an early dinner at a great Italian restaurant, then headed over to one of our favorite local hotels and swam. Everyone had a really nice, relaxing time. Once again, lots of other families had the same idea, so the pool was a bit crowded.
After swimming for a while, our group went in a few different directions: My mom, SIL and littlest nephew went back to their rooms to relax and prep for bed. The men dried off and headed straight to the hotel's Irish bar for drinks and food. Claire and my oldest nephew and I stayed in the pool to swim.
We eventually all met back up in one of the rooms before retiring to our separate quarters. Claire and I rung the new year in by watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. She was so excited to see Lady Gaga perform! Shortly after midnight we both drifted off to sleep.
On the first day of 2012, we all met up for brunch. It was a great way to ring out the old year and ring in the new year!
